What We Believe

Essential Beliefs

Ben Davis Christian Church is a non-denominational Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. Our essential beliefs represent the most foundational beliefs of orthodox Christianity

The Bible

The Bible

The Bible is God’s Word. It was written by men who received guidance from the Holy Spirit. Because the Bible was inspired by God, it is both infallible and authoritative.

The Godhead

The Trinity

God exists in Trinity. He is three co-equal and co-eternal beings in one: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-present.

God the Father

God is the Father of all created things. By Him all things were created and for Him all things exist. God the Father is the ultimate authority of the universe. He is Holy and without flaw.

God the Son

Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He rose from the grave after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death.

God the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every believer from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.

Human Nature

The Value of Humankind

Humankind has value and is the supreme object of God’s creation.

The Creation of Humankind

Humankind was created by God and for God. God created humanity in His image, and He created humans equally, male and female. No person is more vaulable than another regardless of their gender, race, or age.

The Nature of Humankind

Humankind is separated from God as the result of disobedience. All are born with a sinful nature and all sin against God. No human effort can restore the broken bond between people and God.

Salvation

Salvation

Salvation is the forgiveness of sins which restores the broken relationship between humankind and God. It is the gracious gift of God by faith alone in Christ alone. Any man or woman who desires salvation must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, who conquered sin and death by dying on the cross and resurrecting from the dead.

Baptism

Baptism

Salvation is the forgiveness of sins which restores the broken relationship between humankind and God. It is the gracious gift of God by faith alone in Christ alone. Any man or woman who desires salvation must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, who conquered sin and death by dying on the cross and resurrecting from the dead.

The Church

The Church

The Church is the hope of the world and the Body of Christ. Jesus is the head of the body, and the Church is the hand of Jesus reaching out to give hope to a hopeless world. A Christian becomes a part of the Body of Christ, the church, at baptism. To be healthy, each part of the body must work together in unity.

Eternity

The Return of Jesus

Jesus will return to earth and reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords for eternity. No person knows the date or the hour, but can prepare for His return by living faithfully.
