But Community is essential. In managing your responsibilities, prioritization is vital. All of us have things in our schedule that aren’t essential. They may be good things or important things, but they aren’t necessary. Community is. That’s why here at Ben Davis Christian Church, we focus so strongly on our Neighborhood Groups and events like Backyard Church. We know time spent in Community is crucial to a life of vibrant faith. Hebrews 10:25 says, “Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”
Community is a commandment from God, and for a good reason: He knows what we need better than anyone. He created us for relationship. We thrive in every way when we do life alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ. We weren’t made to be machines. God commands us to rest and enjoy the presence of others because He knows we need it. There’s no shame in slowing down, no matter what the world around you would have you believe. Even God rested on the seventh day!
As easy as it may be amid an overburdened schedule, don’t neglect time with your fellow believers. Commit to sharing your time, faith, love, and encouragement with one another. God has called us to live life in unison with one another, all for the benefit of our faith and the furtherance of His Kingdom.
