Where Did We Come From?
The culture around us is growing more and more distant from God. Society primarily sees faith as archaic and not relevant to our lives. While living among this mindset, it can be challenging to hold onto faith in God. In this world that seems to be spiraling out of control daily, is there really a God who created it all?
The terrible things we are witnessing on the news and the instability around us can be discouraging, no doubt. These events can truly make us feel as if there is no God. We may ask ourselves questions like, “if there is a God, why does He allow these terrible things to happen?” I wouldn’t claim that those types of questions are easily answered because they are not. But we can rest assured that no matter what state the world is in, there is a God, and He loves us more than we could ever comprehend.
1 Corinthians 8:6 tells us, “we know that there is only one God, the Father, who created everything, and we live for him. And there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom God made everything and through whom we have been given life” (NLT). God made us in His image because He loves us and wants to have a relationship with us. It’s through Him that we have life, as He created us and everything that we know.
He is real. The people who wrote the Bible faced persecution and death for the words that they wrote. When they proclaim God’s presence in their lives and in the world, you can trust them. No one writes fairy tales when they know they will be killed for doing so. Let the weight of that sink in, and think about what they must have witnessed. God wants to fill your life with His presence as well. All that you have to do is accept Him into your heart.
