WHO WE ARE
Ben Davis Christian Church is a gospel-centered community on mission on the westside of Indianapolis, Indiana near Avon and Speedway. We gather on Sunday for worship at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. and scatter throughout the week to serve in Missional Community.
Know Jesus, and make Jesus known.
Core values are what we consider important and worthwhile. Commonly held values are the key to unity and are the foundation upon which all activity must be based. Paul encourages us to be “like-minded” and “one in spirit and purpose” (Phil.2:2). We are committed to developing and pursuing Biblical Kingdom values. The following core values define who we are and what we are committed to:
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. – Romans 1:16
The good news is that through his life, death and resurrection, Jesus has done everything necessary to restore all people and all creation to a right relationship with God. Our foundation is the gospel, not religion. It is through the gospel that we are restored to a right relationship with God and find our identity. We believe that the gospel is central to every aspect of our lives and this church. As we allow the gospel to inform us and transform our lives, we find life.
We loved you so much that we shared with you not only the gospel but our own lives, too. – 1 Thessalonians 2:8
When God created human beings, He designed them to be in community both with Him and with one another. Sin damaged those relationships but through Jesus Christ, God is restoring people to right relationship with himself and with one another. Sharing life as a community gives all people both opportunity to hear and experience Jesus Christ, helping people to grow in Christlikeness throughout the week. We believe this restoration process occurs in community when we disciple one another to become more like Christ, live life as family and live intentionally as Jesus did for the good of the city.
By God’s grace and mighty power, I have been given the privilege of serving him by spreading the gospel. – Ephesians 3:7
The mission of God is to restore all people to Himself in and through the work and person of Jesus Christ. He has chosen us as His church to accomplish that mission. Our hope is that the people of Indianapolis will experience the church, not as a building or religion, but as a community of believers that love and serve them right where they are.
For you have been my partners in spreading the gospel from the time you first heard it until now. – Philippians 1:5
We believe that God has a locational and vocational purpose for His church; therefore, we value multiplication – not duplication – of efforts. Our vision is to be a local church that supports and lifts up others. We see ourselves partnering with other local churches to reach the unreached and never-reached of our city, while maintaining our own distinctiveness.
Jesus commanded us to go into the world and make disciples who make disciples. We believe fully-committed followers of Jesus can change the world one person at a time. By connecting disciples with a Missional Community and involving them in ministry together, we hope to help individuals grow to be completely committed followers of Jesus.
Jesus said, “As the Father sent me I am sending you.” Jesus Himself came to seek and save the lost, and He has commissioned us to do the same. That’s why we aspire to be a church that reaches the unreached and never-reached. We intentionally, persistently and creatively reach out to our neighbors in Missional Community and by partnering with other gospel workers worldwide.
We gather together weekly to celebrate God’s mercy toward us. While we were still sinners, Jesus died to pay the perfect price for our sins. That is worthy of taking time each week to come together to learn, remember and celebrate through preaching, singing, testimony, communion, baptism and giving.
Family Ministry is our greatest investment. It is the partnership of the church and your family to raise a generation of Kingdom Workers and to build a lasting foundation of faith in the home. Our Family Ministry reflects our values of gospel, mission and community and is divided into three life stages: Kids, Pre-Teens and Teens.
